Community Guidelines
Version 1.0, updated 30 September 2026
We keep the community useful and on topic, and we protect what members share in it. The full guidelines are below.
Newsroom Video Community brings together people working on video in newsrooms. We share practical experience, ask for help and learn from each other. These guidelines apply to members, hosts and invited experts, including community events and direct messages arising from membership.
- 1.
Treat people with respect. Challenge an idea or a method without attacking the person. Harassment, discrimination, threats and sharing someone’s private details are grounds for removal. Respect requests to stop a conversation.
- 2.
Keep it relevant and useful. Bring questions and examples connected to newsroom video. Use threads for replies. Add context when sharing a link: why it matters, what you learned or what you want help with. Avoid repeated promotion and mass mentions.
- 3.
Be clear about your role. Use a recognizable name and an honest description of your work. Disclose employment, clients, sponsorships or other commercial interests when they are relevant. Ask a host privately if public identification would create a problem for you.
- 4.
No unsolicited selling or contact harvesting. Don’t use the member directory, posts or DMs for sales prospecting, recruiting campaigns or building contact lists. Ask in the relevant thread before moving a conversation into DMs. Product links are welcome when they answer a real question and your connection is clear; sales pitches and affiliate spam are not. These rules also apply to the organizers and Flipatic.
- 5.
Ask before sharing someone else’s contribution. Get the author’s permission before quoting, taking screenshots of or sharing their community messages outside the group, including in reports, marketing and social posts. Public articles and videos remain shareable under their original terms. A membership list or someone’s participation is not an endorsement.
- 6.
Share only what you have permission to share. Protect sources, unpublished reporting, personal data, confidential business information and other people’s work. Give credit. The group is private to members, but it is not a guarantee of confidentiality.
- 7.
Use AI responsibly. Check the accuracy of anything you post. Do not upload other members' messages or personal details to external AI tools or scrape conversations. Bots that read or post in the workspace need the hosts' permission and agreement from the relevant participants. Recording or transcribing a community call requires advance notice and agreement.
- 8.
Help us shape the group. Suggest changes in #community-lab or speak to a host. Channels and activities can evolve as we learn what members need. We’ll make material changes to these guidelines visible and explain when they apply.
If something goes wrong
Contact Joanna Kocik at joanna.kocik@autentika.com. You can also contact Michał Frączek at michal.fraczek@autentika.com or Michał Samojlik at michal.samojlik@autentika.com. You can send the message link and a short description; you don’t need to challenge someone publicly. The person involved in a complaint will not decide its outcome. Hosts handle reports with discretion and share details only as needed to address the concern.
Hosts may ask someone to edit or remove a post, give a warning, remove content or deactivate membership. Serious harassment, threats, deliberate data harvesting or repeated violations can lead to immediate removal. Where appropriate, we explain the decision privately. You can appeal within 14 days to a host who was not involved in the incident or original decision.
These are community expectations, not a promise of continuous moderation or guaranteed confidentiality. For routine questions or help with joining, email michal.fraczek@autentika.com.
Leaving
You can leave by deactivating your Slack account or contacting a host. To access, correct or delete your application and membership data, email michal.samojlik@autentika.com. Leaving does not automatically delete every message you have posted. Contact us if you need help with your messages.
